Minty Hot Chocolate Superfood Smoothie

Chocolate is a superpower

So as I mentioned in my recent apple pie smoothie post, I’ve been rebalancing my gut. And in order to do so, I had to stick to warm foods, meaning no traditional ice-based smoothies. BUT I figured out a hack to this breakfast obstacle: the warm smoothie.

And steamed cauliflower is a the match made in heaven that makes these concoctions not just possible, but totally worth your while. And I snuck in some spinach too, for good measure. And for the record, I am declaring chocolate as a superpower. Because, chocolate.

Hot fresh and minty

Anyway. When I was dreaming up all the warm smoothie possibilities, a hot chocolate smoothie obviously immediately jumped to mind, then soon thereafter entered Hum Nutrition’s Mint Chocolate Chip Raw Beauty. I got a little free trial (available on their site), and immediately knew I had to try a minty hot chocolate smoothie. And yes it was totally delicious. If you like the whole mint-chocolate combo, that is. But if you don’t, then frankly I don’t really understand you. (I kid 😉

For real though, I just ate a giant dark chocolate covered peppermint patty today. The mint-chocolate flavor combo is one of my all-time favs and I’m on a mint-chocolate kick lately, including making my own sugar-free peppermint dark chocolate… yes.

So for my fellow minty-chocolate lovers out there, this smoothie is for you. And while I’m digging Hum’s Mint Chocolate raw beauty, an all natural superfood powder jam-packed with nutritional powerhouses, probiotics, adaptogens, antioxidants, fiber and digestive enzymes (phew!), you can definitely make this smoothie without since plain ole mint and cocoa powder go in the smoothie anyway.

And, you can totally make this a regular old cold smoothie – just use frozen steamed cauliflower and cold milk – the minty freshness comes through even more! Frozen minty hot chocolate anyone!?
